Taylor Made

The problem with being a Jewish humorist is that life has a disturbing tendency to turn your jokes into reality. It seems like just yesterday that we were cracking wise about the likelihood of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s being a Member of the Tribe, and today we find that Charles Taylor, the former Liberian ruler and serial child mutilator who is currently on trial in the Hague for crimes against humanity, is preparing to embrace the Torah of Moses. Jewdar suspects that this is a ploy to gain whatever support he imagines international Jewry will give him, but Taylor is nothing if not savvy, and if you read the fine print, you see he’s still hedging his bets, since he’s not planning on abandoning Jesus, either. Jesus, this one, you can keep.
