Spinal Tap Turns 25

The greatest fake band in rock ‘n roll history is back. Well sorta.

The perpetually herpied trio that makes up Spinal Tap–David St. Hubbins, Nigel Tufnel and Derek Smalls–found it difficult to fill upeven the smallest of venues,as we recall fromthe 1984 cult mockumentary, This is Spinal Tap. (Once they played second billing to a puppet show at a military dance.) That being the case, their real-life alter-egos–Michel McKean, ChristopherGuest and Harry Shearer–are gearing up fora 25th anniversary summer acoustic tour, the aptly titled "Unwigged, Unplugged and Undead." (I’mcountingmy lucky stars that Guest willresurrect Tufnel’s magnus opum,"Lick My Love Pump.")

Check out thisinterview with the band and This is Spinal Tap director Marty DiBergi (Rob Reiner) from this month’s issue of Vanity Fair. It’s nothing shortof HI-larious!
