Heeb Storytelling: Robert Schwartz on Being the Only Jew at Catholic School

(video after the jump)

Heeb Storytelling hit Brooklyn’s famed art space Galapogos this month. Hosted by Michelle Collins (Best Week Ever) seven-minute Jewish tales were told by actor/filmmaker Jon Golbe (The Colbert Report/Playboy‘s Interns), journalist Anna Jane Grossman (Obsolete: An Encyclopedia of Once Common Things Passing Us By), author Ruth Ellenson (The Modern Jewish Girl’s Guide to Guilt) and other clever interesting people.

Screenwriter Robert Schwartz recalled a traumatic childhood as the token Jewish boy attending Bishop Dunne Parochial School. In this unlikely setting — surrounded by classmates whose last names all ended in vowels and whose fathers all had "executive positions" in the garbage, concrete, or construction business — Schwartz somehow discovered his Jewish voice and even made a few friends.
