Hardly Comic

While on the subject of the year’s best and worst, Jewdar tips the proverbial yarmulke to the governments of the Arab League, which in our mind, are about as close to the “Legion of Doom”:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legion_of_Doom_%28comics%29 as an organization can get. It seems to us that pretty much any evil thing that somebody can think of, they’ll support. Stoning gays? Check. Honor killing? You got it. Slavery? No problem. Lest some readers think we are imagining, we call your attention to just some of their lowlights of 2007: victims of rape “threatened with prosecution”:http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/10/31/africa/dubai.php in Dubai and actually “prosecuted”:http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/meast/11/17/saudi.rape.victim/ in Saudi Arabia; teachers threatened with flogging for “blasphemous teddy bears”:http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/africa/11/26/sudan.bear/ in Sudan; and, just sneaking in to wrap up the year, a blogger “arrested”:http://saudijeans.org/2007/12/24/saudi-blogger-arrested/ in Saudi Arabia. If only there were a hero who would step in and deliver these dastards their just deserts. Will Smith, are you listening?

What do you think?
