International strongman competitions generally consist of things like “lifting refrigerators,” “dragging ship’s anchors” and other arbitrary, not at all useful skills. But, in Warsaw, Poland, one group of particularly strong men actually put their superhuman strength to good use.
According to their Facebook page, Eastern European Holocaust education NGO From The Depths, along with their Polish subsidiary The Matzeva Project called upon the Polish Strongman Federation to help lift and carry a number of Jewish gravestones, which a resident had found in their Warsaw garden. The strong men returned the stones – each weighing up to 550 lbs – to the Warsaw Jewish cemetery, where they then paid their respects.
Sure beats haulin’ fridges.
