Former MLB Pitcher Has Some Thoughts On The Holocaust

John Rocker (‘member him?) is known less for his pitching career than he is for opening his big mouth and saying incredibly stupid things. In his now-famous 1999 rant about hating just about everyone (especially Mets fans) he offended:

johnrocker-Gays
-People with AIDS
-People with purple hair
-Mothers
-Anyone not from the US
-The Entire City of New York

Since then, he’s gone on to allegedly call a black teammate a “fat monkey”, a sports writer a “fag” and has more or less turned into Kenny Fucking Powers.

Yesterday Rocker was at it again, this time in an op-ed written for the conservative World Net Daily website. Ostensibly a pro-gun manifesto, the article “Emulate Alex Jones” (presumably he means emulate Jones’ freakout/meltdown/aneurysm on Piers Morgan’s CNN show) is a long, not particularly interesting, screed about owning guns, shooting guns, and how the government is coming to take everyone’s guns. But, right there in the fourth paragraph, Rocker lets this zinger fly:

Absolute certainties are a rare thing in this life, but one I think can be collectively agreed upon is the undeniable fact that the Holocaust would have never taken place had the Jewish citizenry of Hitler’s Germany had the right to bear arms and defended themselves with those arms.

You hear that, Jews? It’s an absolute certainty that had German Jews in the early 20th century owned guns, the Holocaust would “never have taken place.” Rocker’s World Net Daily bio describes his post-MLB success in real estate development, but neglects to mention the advanced degrees in Jewish studies, European studies, and Holocaust and Genocide studies he must have to make such an authoritative statement. (neither does it mention his career ending 9.0 ERA, but let’s not split hairs here.)

Now, advanced degrees or not, something about his assertion doesn’t sound quite right to me. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I’m inclined to give the guy the benefit of the doubt. After all, if we can’t trust professional athletes, who can we trust?

I’m sure my dad’s shytel shul could’ve taken out the Waffen SS. If only…

Jews should be the LAST ones in favor of gun control. One of the first things Hitler did, right before Kristallnacht, was make it illegal for Jews to own guns. One Stetl couldn’t take on the SS but a few guns in the hands of Jews determined to defend themselves in ghetto uprisings tied down plenty Wehrmacht soldiers. “Never Again” means never being defenseless sheep again and if we had had our weapons the Holocaust would have not have been as easy to accomplish.

    Thank you, Tim.

Rich Weiksberg’s remark is a sad exemplar of the all-too-common leftist controller viewpoint that the only possible alternative scenario would be an all out war by Jewish (or whatever) resistance against the Nazis (or whatever tyrannical government), and that individuals are out-armed by government so there is no use resisting ever.

While there is no parallel universe with which we can reflect upon alternative realities with certitude, it is very disturbing to me the Rich Weiksberg’s of the world still perceives themselves and fellow Jews as excessively passifistic sheeple, and can’t perceive the value of arms to individuals to save themselves and escape to sanctuary.

There is one thing I can state with absolutely certainty, Mr. Weiksburg. There was no need for a single shtetl, or for that matter, the entirety of armed Jewish resistance to take out the Waffen SS on its own. You, Weiskburg, have not just forgotten one of the major lessons of the Holocaust, but you have apparently forgotten that we also had the entire military capacity of Great Britain and Soviet Union, much of the military capacity of the United States, and the military capacity of several other well-armed nations on our side, which is how the Waffen SS got taken out. Had the Nazis not disarmed us, it certainly would not have hurt.

On a constructive note, I sincerely believe that more Jews need to join the military. Not only are the demographics of military composition troubling, but it seems to me that is contributing to the attitude of the Rich Weiksburg’s of the world that they are too weak to defend themselves.

Thanks, I had never thought about the low number of Jews in the US military. If more Jews would join I think the demographics of officers would change a lot. Additionally, the JPFO (Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership)has some very good articles about why there are so many ultra-liberal Jews and why gun ownership among us is so low.
