So this past week’s Forward featured another article about evangelical Christians and how they love Israel. Blah, blah, blah–when are they going to realize that they only want to convert us, and that they’re all a bunch of antisemites, and–wait a minute, it’s about Black evangelicals. Well of course they love Israel. Obviously, they identify strongly with Israel’s prophetic mission, and relate to Israel on a unique level because of the importance of Moses and themes of redemption in old spirituals, and…oh, who needs the rest, the important thing is, black people love Jews again, and isn’t that all that any of us ever really wanted?
They still think we’re all going to hell*. That tells me all I need to know about them.
(*Although I understand they’re willing to obtain dispensations for those who vote Republican.)
