Look, do any other world religions want to take Ben Stein off our hands? Who knows — he might make a terrific Buddhist? Or maybe, deep down in his soul, there’s an Earth-lovin’ Wiccan just waiting to burst out. All I know is that I’m not thrilled about being a coreligionist with someone this detached from reality.
This past Sunday, Stein appeared on Fox News to offer his professional opinion on President Obama’s politics ahead of Tuesday’s midterm elections. The author/actor/economist/game-show host/political speechwriter spends a minute or two bloviating about how magnanimous the Republican party has been toward this country’s disadvantaged, before dropping the r-bomb on our first African American commander-in-chief. Yes, according to the guy who hocks Clear Eyes eyedrops on TV, President Barack Obama is “the most racist president” in the history of the United States of America.

Evidently the Columbia and Yale educated Stein thinks Barack Obama is more racist than Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, Andrew Jackson, Martin Van Buren, John Tyler, James K Polk, Zachary Taylor, Andrew Johnson, and Ulysses S. Grant – all of whom owned actual human beings as slaves.
But if you’re looking for some more *erm*…”contemporary” racism in the Oval Office, here’s what an uncensored Richard Nixon was recorded saying, regarding African Americans:
Bill Rogers has got — to his credit it’s a decent feeling — but somewhat sort of a blind spot on the black thing because he’s been in New York,” Nixon said. “He says well, ‘They are coming along, and that after all they are going to strengthen our country in the end because they are strong physically and some of them are smart.’ So forth and so on.
“My own view is I think he’s right if you’re talking in terms of 500 years,” he said. “I think it’s wrong if you’re talking in terms of 50 years. What has to happen is they have be, frankly, inbred. And, you just, that’s the only thing that’s going to do it, Rose.”

The Jews are just a very aggressive and abrasive and obnoxious personality.
Perhaps Nixon should have cleaved a little more closely to his prepared and vetted speeches. You know, the ones written by that young upstart on his speechwriting staff: Ben Stein.
