_Sit Down, Shut Up_: The _Heeb_ Review

Last night, at around 8:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, you may have noticed a giant sucking sound. That would have been the sound of Fox’s new animated show, Sit Down, Shut Up, sucking.

Created by Arrested Development honcho Mitchell Hurwitz, and featuring the voices of AD cast alum like Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Fonzie, Sit Down, revolving around the staff at a high school, certainly seemed like it had some potential. It seems though, that Hurwitz thought to himself "I had this incredibly smart, sophisticated show that got cancelled after two seasons…this time, I’ll just go for stupid."

The characters have no depth, and sometimes, make no sense whatsoever (Miracle Grohe, the science teacher–and get it, her name is like "Miracle Grow", doesn’t believe in Evolution and makes antisemitic remarks, but is supposed to be a New Age hippy type). They repeat jokes which weren’t funny the first time around again and again, and they completely ripped off one joke from Family Guy (which they then repeated again and again). Blecchhhh.

Jewdar has been wrong before, and we’ll admit that we didn’t like Family Guy, Malcolm in the Middle, or Arrested Development the first time we saw them, so we’ll give it a few more episodes. But a few more like this one, Mr. Hurwitz, and we’ll be recommending you see an analrapist.

Agreed. It was a disappointing and painful 30 minutes- I wish them luck recovering from that.
