The Purim Story, As Explained By Black History Month

Purim, the Jewish Mardi Gras-cum-Halloween, is just around the corner. But, after a childhood spent ignoring Hebrew school, I don’t quite know the full Purim as much as my teachers would have hoped. Odds are if you’re reading this, you’re in the same boat. Fortunately, given the chronological proximity of Purim and Black History Month, our friends at Stand Up NY recruited comedians Godfrey, Dante Nero and Jermaine Fowler to help explain the true meaning of Purim to us Hebrew school flunkies. I’m no expert, but their version is about as plausible as anything else I’ve heard. Especially the part about Jacob the Jeweler.

Happy Purim, folks. Party on!
