According to Harold Ramis, that Ghostbusters threequel’s on the way and will "introduce some new young Ghostbusters, and all the old guys will be in it, too." And now I can’t stop thinking how obvious it is for Judd Apatow’s young tribe to fill the shoes of the old generation. Granted, I wouldn’t usually call the Apatow clan "young," unless of course I’m comparing them to the GB alum (average age: 61 years, 3 months).
Since Superbad’s Michael Cera’s already campaigning for the role of Oscar (ostensibly assuming Ramis’s sweet geek dynamic), it seems a no-brainer that his pals will carry those remaining proton packs.
Granted we see far too much of these movie cutie pies already, and I scoff at the idea of them stealing the firehouse from our beloved paranormal exterminators altogether, but check it: Paul Rudd as the charming Bill Murray-type slacker; Seth Rogen wearing Dan Aykroyd’s khaki uniform as the thick-headed schlemiel; Apatow’s wife, Leslie Mann, as the Sigourney-ish love interest and Craig Robinson as the token black guy.
It all makes sense, if only to give Rogen a chance to bust out all sorts of masturbation puns after he gets slimed.
