Just when we thought the annoyingly funny Sh*t People Say videos peaked, brother/sister duo Eliot and Ilana Glazer bring us Shit New Yorkers Say. Brilliantly produced, it’s one of the better shorts out there, which is refreshing given the rise of obvious lo-res cellphone videos around YouTube. Shit New Yorkers Say depicts our loves and hates for our dear city, replete with Yiddish expressions, bagels and candid borough-phobia. Best of all, the word “shit” isn’t censored because well, it’s New York. Though the Glazers did leave out one topic New Yorkers love to talk about–relationships. Maybe they just couldn’t commit to the discussion?
While the success of the video may have introduced the hetero-public to Eliot, us gays know him for his series It Gets Betterish–a play on the It Gets Better video series started by Dan Savage. Infused with humor and Jewish neurosis, Eliot and co-star Brent Sullivan tackle various hot-button issues like Lady Gaga, gay republicans, fag hags, and HIV testing.
I have a strong feeling this is just the beginning for the Glazer siblings and look forward to watching more of these two.
I think they need to re-title the article, “Shit Fake New Yorkers From Nebraska Say”
I gain a lot of valuable insights from reading what is presented on this site. I hope this site stays updated because I look forward to learning much more.
