Jewdar loves a story with a happy ending. This one starts badly, about a hundred years ago when, after the Great War, a Jewish doctor named Aaron Mallah converted to Catholicism and married his French Catholic fiance. They had a daughter, who married a Hungarian immigrant. They had a son, Nicholas, who became France’s current president, and husband of dishy supermodel/heiress/also grandchild of a Jewish convert–Carla Bruni. Which may sound like a happy enough ending, except we’re still down one Jew–until this year. So, it seems that Nicholas Sarkozy’s son, Jean (in France, it is customary to give boys what normal people think of as girls’ names), married an NJG, Jessica Sebaoun (above, left), and they did what a man and a woman sometimes do (or, in the movies that Dreidel Hustler watches, almost always do), et voila, a baby boy, Sarkozy’s first grandchild, was born. And a little more than a week after that, the baby, named Solal, had a Bris. So Aaron’s grandson gets to be French president with the hot, younger wife, and the family tree has sprouted a circumcised branch, which makes us even. We wish the parents all the nachus in the world from petit Solal (and not that we’re in a rush, but one more, and we pull ahead).
