There are times when the prospect of peace in the Middle East is a hopeful beacon toward which all reasonable and rational minded actors strive. There are, unfortunately, other times when peace seems like nothing more than a poorly timed joke. With tensions high in the Middle East these days, who could possibly be better advocates for peaceful coexistence than comedians?
Enter Maz Jobrani and Elon Gold, representing Muslims (Jobrani is Persian) and Jews (Gold was born in the Bronx) respectively.
If the power of dance can’t ratchet down the bellicosity, perhaps the power of really bad dance can.
The video was created by “Give Peace A Dance,” an online movement advocating a diplomatic resolution for the tensions between Israel and Iran. Give Peace A Dance is, in turn, an initiative of the Ploughshares Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to preventing conflicts in which weapons of mass destruction could be used.
Comedy trumps atomic bombs every time.
