A few months back I got nice and grouchy over the massive popularity of the “imagine if Seinfeld were still on the air” twitter account @SeinfeldToday. Sure it’s got one or two clever jokes, I argued, but do we really need more “show about nothing” in our already nothing-filled lives? Seinfeld’s over. Let it die a dignified death.
Well, turns out I’m not alone in my curmudgeonly-ness. On a recent episode of ESPN’s “The Michael Kay Show”, Seinfeld creator and supreme grouch himself Larry David weighed in on the worthwhile-ness of Seinfeld Today.
He was, unsurprisingly, not impressed:
“I can guarantee you that show would not get on the air. That does not pass the funny test”
Unfortunately, there’s word on what David thinks of the vastly superior parody-of-a-parody “Seinfeld Current Day” account.
