"We’re not a metal band, but we have metal practices," says Hamilton Jordan, guitarist of the band Genghis Tron over cups of seltzer a few hours before set time. The Philadelphia trio consists of Jordan, Mookie Singerman and Michael Sochynsky–recent grads of Vassar College. With two keyboards, a drum machine and guitar, they sport a very non-traditional set up. They are loud and heavy–definitely music that will scare your mother–but the sound isn’t like anything you may have heard before. "We like taking a familiar idea and recontextualizing it," says Sochynsky.
