If you ask me, we’re long overdue for a good, old-fashioned Woody Allen misery-fest. Sure, “Midnight in Paris” was whimsically charming, and yes, “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” was quirky and fun, but for my money Woody is at his best when his characters are broken, unlikeable, and entirely, painfully, relatable. Enter “Blue Jasmine“, Woody’s next film, the first trailer for which was released on Friday:
The story of a wealthy New York socialite who loses everything, including her mental well-being, “Blue Jasmine” stars Cate Blanchett, Alec Baldwin, Andrew “Dice” Clay, and Louis CK.
Welcome back, miserable-Woody, We’ve missed you.
