Bongs Away!

We sorta thought California’s medical marijuana law was still up in the air, but try telling that to the first graduating class of Oaksterdam University. Founded by medical marijuana activist (read "stoner") Richard Lee and located in downtown Oakland, the university teaches students everything from the political and legal history of marijuana to growing 101. Oaksterdam recently expanded its reach southward, opening enrollment for its L.A. campus in late February. The word university is used liberally–it’s really a $200 set of courses that Lee hopes will "professionalize" the 400-odd medical marijuana outlets in California. Some of Lee’s Oak-town neighbors may argue that the marijuana biz is already quite professional, thank you very much.
