Beauty and the Beast, Hollywood-Style

Hollywood loves pretty women made up to look like ugly women. Especially pretty women impersonating real, live ugly women. First Charlize Theron in Monster and now Marion Cotillard in La Vie En Rose have won best actress Oscars not so much for their heartbreaking performances as for their ability to sit through hours of make-up and impersonate women much less attractive than themselves (prostitute-turned-serial-killer Aileen Wuornos for Theron and often-drunk French songbird Edith Piaf for Cotillard).

We’re thinking there are probably plenty of good ugly actresses out there who never get a break. Why not give one of them the job? No, far better to hire a pretty woman and a good make-up artist. That way, people will tune in to see her interviewed and when she gets the Oscar, she’ll look hot for the cameras.

What do you think?

Sorry Shiksa, Marion deserved the Oscar. For the heartbreaking performance. She played the woman not only in her ugly moments, but also as an 18 year old hobo all the way through to a morphine addict in her 40s. And it took a lot more than makeup!!!

agree , but it is too bad Marion will also be remembered for her Feb. 2007 statement that the ” attacks of Sept. 2001 might have been a conspiracy by property developers who couldn’t be bothered to repair the cabling on the Twin Towers. ”
