Paternity Suit

Canadian author Rebecca Eckler is suing Universal Studios for copyright infringement on the basis of the “striking similarities between Judd Apatow’s comedy and her memoir”:http://www.thestar.com/entertainment/article/221485 published a couple years back. Apparently, the two works contain “a Jewish father figure, and both of their female characters work in the media.”:http://qww.cinematical.com/2007/06/05/canadian-author-suing-judd-apatow-for-ripping-off-knocked-up/

We’ve also heard that Eckler’s male character is an alcoholic fronting as a childhood icon who works at a shopping mall in Arizona. So it sounds like writer/director Terry Zwigoff should lawyer up before “_his_ masterwork”:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=17VrLTWxw2A gets dragged into court, too.

What do you think?
