Judd Apatow’s After School Special

I gotta say, I was a little overexcited when a clip from a new show titled Yo Teach! landed in my e-mail box this week. I mean, it features super fox Jason Schwartzman, a casting choice that makes it exceedingly TiVo-able. But don’t be fooled! The "show" is actually just the beginning of Judd Apatow’s clever viral campaigning for his upcoming film, Funny People, starring Adam Sandler.

In the film, Schwartzman plays Mark Taylor Jackson, a pompus actor who stars in a primetime NBC show that’s somewhere between Boy Meets World and Dangerous Minds. On the show, Jackson plays the big-hearted substitute teacher that all the ne’er do well kids will eventually come to respect and love, natch.

The hoax is pretty convincing, actually. NBC has even created an officialYo Teach! website and is currently hawking the first season on DVD in the NBC Universal store. The clip above comes from an episode titled "MC Shakespeare." Take a look. I think it’s just bad enough to be believable as a real NBC show.

What do you think?
