Starz has a show on tonight about Hollywood’s obsession with comics. The narrative is a little blah (Richard Roeper should stick to sound byte reviews) but the interviews are sort of awesome. Stan Lee and Roger Corman talking about the first, never-released Fantastic Four, Ron Perlman looking so much more like Hellboy in real life than you’d ever think possible (sorry Ron), Tim Sale and Guillermo Del Toro geeking out on everything from Fritz the Cat to 1978’s Superman. Speaking of geeking out, I totally forgot that the 1989 Batman brought together Frank Miller and Tim Burton. How fucking cool was that?
Just for the record: Richard Roeper is not the narrator of the documentary. He’s the host of the series.
