Got a Spare 12K for Sammy Davis, Jr’s Menorah?

So people are really shitting their pants over this one. It’s a menorah acquired by Sammy Davis, Jr. (before he gave everyone the douchechills by visiting Nixon at the White House), that will be auctioned by this guy on June 7 and 8. The inscription reads:

WOMEN’S DIVISION JEWISH PHILANTHROPIES, TUESDAY NOVEMBER 23, 1865, HOTEL ASTOR. TO SAMMY DAVIS JR WHOSE ACHIEVEMENTS WON BY COURAGE AND INTEGRITY SAY TO EVERY MAN: YES WE CAN.

The menorah, currently valued at $12-15K, was sold in the original Butterfield and Butterfield auction of Sammy’s estate back in the day and was recently resold in 2004. The public is allowed to take snapshots of the menorah today in Brooklyn (2001 McDonald Avenue, 11223) if you care.

What do you think?

Likely a FAIL on our end. No reason to change it though. Cause you know Sammy D lost his eye in the Civil War and all.

So, Sammy D’s menorah said “Yes We Can”….way before Barack Obama did.
