On any given day, it feels as if the situation(s) in the Middle East are thisclose to going straight to hell. With that in mind, it seems fitting that the region – particularly its epicenter of Jerusalem – would be the perfect setting for the horror film, JeruZalem. The story of a pair of American tourists stuck in the holy city during the actual, honest-to-god apocalypse, JeruZalem turns the same streets you stumbled through after a night of Birthright-binge drinking into the setting for some good ol’ fashioned biblical mayhem.
Cool right? In fact, the only thing cooler would be seeing JeruZalem with a nice buzz going from a head full of wine and a stomach full of delicious desserts…
Well, boy are you in luck.
On Tuesday, November 10th, that’s exactly what’s you’ll be able to do at the HEEB-sponsored screening of JeruZalem, part of the Other Israel Film Festival, preceded by a pre-screening reception for you to get your eat and drink on.
Here’s the deal:
WHEN: Drinks and dessert, 7:30-8:30. JeruZalem screening, 8:30-10:30
WHERE: JCC Manhattan (334 Amsterdam Ave at 76th Street)
COST: $9 with discount code “HEEB” ($12 without code)
But wait, there’s more…
At 6:30 that same night, the Other Israel Film Festival is screening Oriented, a fascinating documentary about three gay Palestinian friends confronting their national and sexual identity in Tel Aviv:
For those out there looking to see two movies in one fell swoop, the JCC Manhattan is offering a special double feature pass for screenings of both Oriented, and JeruZalem, $15 in total. There’ll even be a special discussion
So, come out to the Other Israel Film Festival on November 10th to drink some wine, eat some snacks, watch some great films, and hang out with HEEB.
See ya there!
JeruZalem at the Other Israel Film Festival is co-sponsored by HEEB magazine, NIF New Generations. Sarah Lawrence College, and Grapevine
