Working at _Heeb_, Kinda Like Going to SXSW (But not really)

So today our music editor, Arye Dworken, and our creative director, Yasha Wallin, are chillin’ at SXSW. Score!

Unfortunately, the rest of us are stuck here at Heeb headquarters, slowly developing cancer from the scary power plant situated right near our office.

Still, we’re nothing if not resourceful, and—if we squint real hard—our home base over here in Brooklyn isn’t that different from a super cool music fest located in Austin, Texas.

I can see the doubt in your eyes, dear readers. So allow me to break the similarities down via the five most important aspects of your average multi-day music festival:

1). Day drinking: When you go to a music festival you tend to drink all day. Drinking helps you lower your social boundaries and mingle with other festival goers. Here at Heeb, we also drink all day—but mostly at our desks out of flasks. This greatly facilitates Twittering, which is kind of like socializing if you lack all normal social graces.

2). Temporary Tinnitus: Loud music means loud ringing in one’s ears. We always have ringing in our ears. Maybe it’s the power plant…

3). Too-cool-for-school music fans: Heeb‘s offices are located in DUMBO, an arty Brooklyn neighborhood replete with creative types who trundle down the cobbled streets, clutching cameras and pieces of scrap metal. All we lack are the oddly enthusiastic (but totally out of place) bros pumping their fists during the drum solos.

4). No showering: Done and done.

5). Merch: We’re nothing if not flush with colorful stuff and things.

What do you think?
