Two Rabbis Walk Into a Reception Hall

To show their support for same-sex couples, a straight rabbi couple (one of whom works at New York’s LGBT synagogue Congregation Beth Simchat) are planning an all-out Conservative Jewish wedding “without the marriage part”:http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2007/06/straight_rabbi_at_gay_shul_set.html#more.

Little known fact: Apparently, there’s a state law prohibiting clergy from performing a religious wedding ceremony without the legal component. Now, I’m no judge, but that seems a little fucked.

    That sounds like a law that’s just BEGGING to be disputed under the idea of separation of church and state.
