The Jewkbox Presents: Magnolia Electric Co.

There’s no mistaking Jason Molina’s sad croon– it falls somewhere between Neil Young’s falsetto and Will Oldham’s guttural rasp. And, on Josephine (Secretly Canadian), the first album from Magnolia Electric Co. since the band’s bass player passed away in 2007, it’s stronger and more effective than ever. This disc features the band’s best batch of songs since Molina went by the moniker Songs: Ohia. Pick it up on July 21.

Listen: "Josephine"
