However, if you were needing an additional argument why not to reach for that delicious, crispy bacon in the morning, the Irish government yesterday announced a recall on all domestic pork products from shops, restaurants and food processing plants because of contamination with dioxin — which in some forms and concentrations, and with long exposure, can cause cancer and other health problems. The toxic Irish pig meat could have been exported to as many as 25 countries, with claims already coming in from France and the Netherlands, with Britain still investigating.
