Plat Prefere, a Belgian cooking showthat highlights the favorite meals of the famous and dead, had to cancel an episode in which Hitler’s preferred trout recipe was prepared athis Kehlsteinhaus, or Eagle’s Nest retreat, in the Bavarian Alps. So much for the "Hitler was a vegetarian" theory, I guess.
A coalition of concentration camp survivors and Jewish journalists loudly criticized the choice, arguing that Hitler’s inclusion would cause Der Fuhrer to be seen as just another "banal" historical figure byany young ‘uns that might be watching. Michael Freilich, editor of Joods Actueel, the Jewishmagazine that spearheaded the outrage, had this to say: "The problem is that Hitler is being featured in a cooking show, without any historical context." Other deadnotables that have been featured on the program include Freddy Mercury, Salvador Dali, Maria Callas, and only moderately anti-semitic, Roald Dahl.
