The Beastie Boys Have A Few Famous Friends. Namely, Stanley Tucci, Susan Sarandon, Will Ferrell, Jack Black, Elijah Wood, Danny McBride, Will Arnett, John C. Reilly, Ted Danson, Steve Buscemi, Seth Rogen, and Chloe Sevigny. How can you not love a rap trio, albeit a middle aged, Jewish rap trio, that can pull all those stars together for the forthcoming 30-minute video for the new single “Make Some Noise?” You can’t. You have to love them. You have no choice. Stop resisting them.
HEEB was fortunate enough to have procured an early copy of the Beastie’s return titled Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 (out May 3rd), and allow me to tell you that you are in for no surprises. Wait. That’s a good thing. Old school throwdown, some thrashy punk tracks, snarky pop culture references, and impossibly “funky” beats (is it okay for us to use the word “funky” non-ironically?). In fact, Ad Rock starts the album off with “here we ago again giving you more, none the lesser.” “More” implies, dear reader, that Ad Rock, MCA, and Mike D know their demographic, and that demographic is looking for an excuse to party. After all, you’ve already fought for your right to do so. You may as well get to it.
We’re a fan. Again.
