Hugh Jackman’s Tweet for Charity

You’d think he’d be too busy promoting that teeny little movie he has coming out May 1, but People‘s reigning Sexiest Man Alive has been encouraging people to turn 140 characters into $100,000 for their favorite charity.

The Oscar host, X-Men: Origins star and all-around song-and-dance man launched a contest on Twitter last week:

I will donate 100K to one individual’s favorite non profit organization. Of course, you must convince me why by using 140 characters or less.

RealHughJackman has over 85,000 followers, and Jackman’s been retweeting many of the suggestions that come in to help bring attention to the causes.

It’s certainly refreshing to see a celebrity combining his star power with Twitter for the forces of good, and not just bludgeoning fans with inane drivel at all hours of the day (yes, I’m looking at you, rainnwilson; I thought you had a day job!).
