Season Two of The Real Housewives of New York airs tomorrow but at last week’s red carpet premiere, I got to chat it up with those brassy, sassy gals who, to their credit, are rather down to earth–especially when compared to the horrifically vapid Real Housewives of Orange County and Atlanta.
In fact, the loud and proud Jewish housewife, Jill Zarin feels the obligation to keep it real on-air too, particularly for her people. She has appointed herself to take on the responsibility of rebuilding the Jewish image in light of that $500 billion stealing/misplacing/losing ponzi schemerBernie Madoff.
"I feel I have a lot of work to do….There is a lot of repair work to do for the Jewish people to build back our reputation.He’s put a damper on the Jewish community. For what he did to us as a people, I feel responsible for helping the reputation [of] what being a Jew is. There are anti-semites who are having a field day with this. I have a lot of repair work to do for the Jews. I need to help make the Jews look good again."
She’s got the fashion and accessorizing down pat, so visually she’s got Jews cutting a decent silhouette. Personality-wise Zarin has a plan to make sure the non-Jews don’t unload the half billion blame on the Chosen:
"All I can do is be myself on TV and the world will know we’re good people."
