Hitler’s Bad Art Sells for Thousands

Before he was Führer, Adolph Hilter was an aspiring young artist, producing oil and watercolor still life and landscape paintings. Though he was rejected from the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, Hilter supported himself by painting watercolors for several years before World War I. Yesterday, at the Weidler Auction House, 15 of these early works of Hitler’s went up for auction, together selling for over $140,000, nearly three times as much as their estimated total of under $50,000–bringing new meaning to the phrase: "What do I have to do to sell a painting in this town?"
