As a way to cope with the onset of adulthood, Hillary Buckholtz has created a Tumblr blog that’s essentially a collection of Internet finds for long-forgotten toys, movies and snack foods. As she puts it, I’m Remembering! comes from a time “before I got a best friend and then was jealous of her, before I had a crush and my heart got broken, before we had real grades in school.” And they certainly don’t make ’em like they used to, says Buckholtz, as, below, she has pitted some toys of yesteryear with those of today.
Slutty My Little Ponies never had a chance.
My Little Pony
THEN NOW
“The new ones look like Bratz dolls…they’re really obnoxious. They’re gross.”
Alvin and the Chipmunks
THEN NOW
[My niece and nephew] even watch some of the same stuff [as I did]…I got them The Chipmunk Adventure, which is this great movie starring Alvin and the Chipmunks.
Jello Pudding Pops
“They stopped making them for a while and they brought them back, but they’re a totally different recipe.”
Tangy Taffy
THEN NOW
“Laffy Taffy took the place of Tangy Taffy, but it’s just not the same.”
If all the economists were laid end to absolve, they’d never reach a conclusion.
So very little done, a lot to complete.
