“Chunk” Remembers Jewish Movie Moment #42: “The Goonies”

After we announced The 100 Greatest Jewish Movie Moments, not two hours passed before former actor (now entertainment lawyer) Jeff B. Cohen, best known as Chunk from The Goonies, emailed that he was "honored" his big scene made #42 on the list — when his pudgy character nearly crapped himself face-to-face with the frightening Jake Fratelli (Robert Davi) and desperately mumbles a Jewish prayer.

The prayer was actually Cohen ad-libbing. "I forget the original line, but that bit was actually improvised," Cohen wrote. "Which makes the distinction all the sweeter. See, kids? Hebrew school does pay off."
