Bush Wins 6th-Straight “Villain of the Year” at British Music Awards

Former President George W. Bush picked up a major award for an unprecedented sixth consecutive year at the Shockwaves NME Awards in London last night. He was yet again honored as Villain of the Year.

His fellow nominees were a mix of musicians and politicians: Brit tabloid fixtures Amy Winehouse and Pete Doherty, Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Sen. John McCain. President Bush is yet to have accepted his award in person.

The awards were founded by British music magazine NME (New Musical Express) in 1953 as an alternative to the Brit Awards, the U.K. equivolent of the Grammys, though lately have been accused of being equally commercial-minded.

Other winners this year included:

President Bush wasn’t alone in having a bad night, as the Jonas Brothers doubled up on Worst Album and Worst Band. In counterpoint to his predecessor, President Barack Obama picked up honors as Hero of the Year.

The real question, Matt, is how Oasis got the best British band awards…I thought they were dead.
