At one point, Billy Crystal was one of the sharpest comedians in the business. Who knows, deep down he still might be. But lately he’s taken the relatively safe route of hosting awards ceremonies and voicing children’s movies; Understandable, considering he’s been performing for about 40 years straight. He wants to coast? He’s earned it. Let him kick back and enjoy a ballgame with his beloved Yankees. I can’t begrudge a guy for that.
As part of his slow, entropic settling into the minds of middle America as their go-to Jew, Crystal spent last night co-hosting ESPN’s SportsCenter. The results were, well, pretty much what you’d expect.
“Take that or I’ll sue you!” Heh!
