Why is it that the Maccabeats make one mediocre video, and suddenly schlocky a capella is the predominant force in Hanukkah novelty songs? In a different (better) world, we’d all take our cues from bounce juggernaut Katey Red and Gypsyphonic Disko‘s amazing cover of “I Have a Little Dreidel”.
The song is a year old already, and I’m not aware of anything else like it. That means we’ve got some major catching up to do if we want to make sure Sissy Bounce edges out mediocre a capella before next Hanukkah comes around. So get those booties poppin’ folks, or it’ll be wall-to-wall Maccabeats from here on out. Blech.
