Promotional Video for the Holocaust Museum of New Mexico

Rachel Bloom and Aaron Glaser and have produced an educational video promoting the Holocaust Museum of New Mexico. Because while the larger, better funded (but not necessarily more effective) Holocaust Museums are in NY, DC, and LA, Berlin, another one in LA, the smaller Holocaust museums must not be forgotten.

What do you think?

There is actually a pretty good Holocaust and Intolerance Museum in Albuquerque. You can see it at their website: http://www.nmholocaustmuseum.org/.

I was sort of disappointed when I saw this was actually a video making fun of New Mexico in general and poking fun at the assumed absurdity of the idea that a holocaust museum in New Mexico. In fact, New Mexico has a strong Jewish presence and heritage.

There is also a holocaust museum in El Paso, Tx. which borders Southern New Mexico…

Not sure if the comedians knew or cared. The joke would have been funnier if it was placed in the Deep South or Montana or Wyoming.

But New Mexico??? It’s sloppy and shows a a lack of sophistication and thoughtfulness by the comedians .

In other words, the are HACKS.

PS… Showing Native Americans items as a “joke” when they had their own holocaust is pretty stupid…

Thank you, Rick. But the day we take sensitivity lectures from who insists “Israel’s” [sic] history was genocide is the day we start putting ketchup on our knishes instead of mustard. Just fyi, many of us have a traditionalist (reactionary?) view that in order for something to be genocide, the numbers of the population in question have to go down.

John and Rick are correct. Not only this is not funny (is this duo comprised of “comedians”? who are they? they aren’t very talented with respect to script writing, accents, timing or plot), but it’s unsophisticated. I’d expect this kind of thing on some teenagers facebook page, but not on Heeb. Lowbrow and not in the good way.

Probably more sophomoric than it could have been. Would have been much more effective if placed in Idaho (3rd Reich, east).

More ironic, considering the number of Merrano (Sp?) decedents living in New Mexico.

this is also a good short doc on the phenomenon of Beni Anousim or Cripto-Jews .. Morranos is not the most favorable of terms these days… It’s like calling an African-American, negro or colored…

    dated term.

      Sorry, Jude…I’m old.

When I took Modern Jewish History under Howard Sachar in the late 1960s, they were Marranos and I was learning to call colored people black, although I generally called them by their first names, since we were friends.
