William Saletan at Slate “reports back”:http://www.slate.com/id/2177228 from an American Enterprise Institute forum called “Abraham’s Children: Race, Identity and the DNA of the Chosen People”.
According to one of the speakers, “Jon Entine”:http://www.jonentine.com/, the author of the book for which the forum was named, “the average IQ of Ashkenazi Jews is 107 to 115, well above the human average of 100. ” Also: “Supposedly, Jews are deficient in visio-spatial skills, possibly because their brains allot extra space for verbal intelligence.” Of course, the panelists debated whether such facts were a result of genetics or culture.
But here’s something for all the Chicken Littles who wail about the growing rate of intermarriage: “the rate of Jewish ‘outbreeding’—procreating with non-Jews—is half a percent. That’s the lowest rate of any population in the world today.” Half a percent, people. It sort of makes me want to marry a non-Jew just to see if I could be wholly responsible for a spike in that number.
Saletan ( on Slate ) says ” And what if the genes that make Jews smart also make them sick.”
