In the first six months of 2007, “_Sweet Mud_”:http://festival.sundance.org/2007/insider/feature10.html won the jury prize for world cinema at Sundance, “_The Band’s Visit_ and _Jellyfiish_ cleaned up at Cannes”:http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/863768.html and “_West Bank Story_”:http://www.heebmagazine.com/blog/view/9 inexplicably took home an Oscar. How’s that for a celebration of the “40th anniversary of the Six-Day War?”:http://www.heebmagazine.com/blog/view/111

Adam Hootnick’s film, “_Unsettled_,”:http://www.unsettledmovie.com/ which won the grand jury prize at the “Slamdance Film Festival”:http://www.slamdance.com/ keeps with the trend. The former producer at MTV News went to the Middle East to film the evacuation of 8,500 settlers from Gaza in 2005 and creates an irresistible narrative that depticts both the young soldiers and settlers with grace and subtlety. Tonight, the film’s New York City premiere takes place at the “IFC Center.”:http://www.ifccenter.com/index The 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. screenings are sold out, but a 9:30 p.m. show has been “added.”:https://www.movietickets.com/pre_purchase.asp?house_id=9598&movie_id=59531&showdate=0&err=3c
