With all the controversy surrounding Ben Affleck playing the new Batman in the upcoming Batman/Superman film, it’s the latest superhero casting announcement that’s making major waves on the far side of the Mediterranean. As reported by the Wall Street Journal:
Israeli actress Gal Gadot, best known for roles in three “Fast & Furious” movies will play the superheroine and her alter-ego Diana Prince, Time Warner Inc.’s Warner Bros. said on Wednesday.
The news that a third DC Comics superhero—and the publisher’s best known female character–will appear in the film should intrigue fans and spur questions about the potential for a standalone Wonder Woman film down the road.
Gal, who we featured in the 2008 Heeb 100, should have no problem playing an amazon warrior princess after having spent two years as an actual warrior in the IDF (okay, wikipedia says she was an army sports trainer, but still…)
So, mazal tov Gal! You’re about to become the most famous Israeli actor on earth.
