If you like video games and matzoh brei as much as Jonathan Mann (above right) you’ll also probably get a kick out of his website, “_GameJew_”:www.gamejew.com. Last year, the Los Angeles-based, 25-year-old launched the site, where you can catch him in his Mario Bros. outfit cocking around with a six-string guitar. He’s up to 10 episodes now, including the first act of “Mario Opera”, the remainder of which available on “iTunes”:www.itunes.com.
At first glance, you could easily mistake his site for podcast trash, but Mann says there’s more to it than just web quirk.
“At its heart, GameJew is a show about what gamer culture is and what will become,” he told _Heeb_, “meaning, games becoming accepted as a serious social medium.”
I’m not sure if a man clad in nothing but red overalls and a stupid hat is the one to elevate the social status of the gaming world, but Mann certainly thinks so–and apparently, so do others.
