If you’re anything like me, you probably find yourself occasional stopping whatever it is you’ve been doing to ask yourself (often aloud) “What the hell has Mike Myers been up to lately?” Well, now we know. He’s doing what all mega-successful actors eventually do: Taking a crack behind the camera, with his directorial debut: “Supermensch”
As reported Monday morning by Deadline:
Myers has joined with A&E IndieFilms, the documentary feature production arm of A&E to make his directorial debut on Supermensch. The film will focus on the career of talent manager Shep Gordon. Myers first became intrigued with Gordon when the music manager held him at bay over granting rights to use the Alice Cooper tune Feed My Frankenstein that Myers desperately wanted in Wayne’s World. Myers got the song and Cooper to appear in the film, and Myers and the manager have been friends ever since. While steering the careers of artists from Blondie to Luther Vandross, Raquel Welch, Gordon has a compelling personal story that Myers will tell, going back to his career break after a chance encounter in 1968 with Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix.

Said A&E Studios president Bob DeBitetto: “We are excited by the passion Mike Myers has brought to this project. Shep Gordon is known throughout Hollywood as the nicest guy to know and the epitome of friendship in an industry devoid of genuine friends – but to hear Mike say it, he’s a Supermensch.”
So, there you have it. While we might not get that Austin Powers sequel we want, or that Love Guru sequel we probably deserve, at least we know that Mike’s spent his time hanging out with a super mensch.
