The world’s greatest album title is one step closer to entering its deserved place in music history. Punk/pop garage Footstone broke up 15 years ago, after the release of their first album,Lippy, but before the release of the brilliantly titled follow-up, Schmeckle City Rubdown. Music history continues to suffer the acute loss.

"They had recorded it and sent me a tape, but I shut down the label before we had the chance to release it," Al Crisafulli, owner of Dromedary Records, told me. "[There is] no special meaning to the title other than the band wanting to use Yiddish words to sound cool." (Don’t we all?)

Now Footstone is reuniting for a show February 6 at Maxwell’s in Hoboken, NJ. "I’m sure they’ll play a few songs from Schmeckle at that show," said Crisafulli. However, when asked if the second album might get a second chance, like any upstanding Italian, the man kept his mouth shut.

Both Dreidel Hustler and music history hope for an imminent release but, if necessary, will wait another fifteen years for Schmeckle City Rubdown.
