Hear, hear! If the Jewish people think enough of me and my posterity to perform some sort of salvific ritual on behalf of my deceased Mormon father, go for it! I’d be flattered that you thought enough of him to make the effort. And as suggested by “Jewdar,” what would we have to lose? Of course if you dug him up or took out a full page ad in Heeb, proclaiming his conversion to Judaism, I’d doubtless take offense. But a simple, quiet ritual on his behalf? Mazel tov to my father!

If you mean the homophobes above, they’re atypical. All you have to do is mention sexuality or gender, and the Neanderthals come storming out of their caves, waving their clubs and grunting inarticulately.

If you mean the rest of us – well, most of the readers are young Jewish hipsters, and therefore “edgy”. I’m just a middle-aged asshole.

I find this article to be refreshingly sensible. Fundamental to Mormonisms is a love for the Jewish people (above and beyond the love that we would like to think we have for all people). This deep rooted appreciation is what makes this baptismal quandry so interesting. On the one hand, we are particularly eager to satisfy any request made by the Jewish people (and for the most part, we do), on the other hand we really want to help you in any way we can and see proxy baptisms as an optimal way to accomplish that.
While I recognize that this ordinance can be seen as offensive, I agree with your logic. If we are wrong, it is little more than unwanted attention, if we are right then its a bit of a freebee.

More pressure needs to be put on her and her responsibilities as a role model. Young girls (and boys) will now simply think that “it’s not a big deal; I’ll get over it… at least I can still enjoy kinky sex with him.” This was her chance to stand up and say “no, it’s not ok and I’m worth more than to be beaten like a 2nd class human.” Instead she chose to put on another revealing dress and sing about sex… disgusting. In ways, she is more pathetic than he is.

I thought this article was going to talk about moving on. You are not Rihanna. You are not Brown. Let it go. He went to court. He did what he was ordered to do. He’s only 22 years old. She’s only 24 years. Let them move on. They are not together. They just did music together.

The ball is in your court Colombus – when will Israel stop building illegal settlements? This is the first step towards peace, but your country is more concerned about squeezing the Palestinians out of existance than peace.
