Reeling in A-Rod
According to The New York Daily News, Cynthia Rodriguez believes that Madonna lured her husband into infidelity with the ancient magic of kabbalah. "I feel like Madonna is using mind control over him," C-Rod told a friend.
Certainly, this isn’t the first time that kabbalah and American popular culture have tangoed with one another these past five years, but it’s the first time that Jewish mysticism has been portrayed as a diabolical magic power: It’s "Sleeping Beauty" meets The Manchurian Candidate meets "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion."
The power that Cynthia Rodriguez attributes to kabbalah is perhaps the most interesting part of the scandal: As disingagement, alienation and apathy proliferate much of the Jewish world, how ironic to suggest the coercive powers of Jewish mind-control techniques?
