The Best of 5767: Television
As you might’ve heard, the lunar calendar finished its cycle and the Jewish year 5767 became 5768. We considered fireworks and a night of pick-pocketing in Times Square, but instead we decided to use the opportunity to reflect upon the best the past year had to offer in the arts and culture. So, here’s the best in television of the lunar year 5767 from the loonies here at Heeb.
1. Flight of the Conchords (HBO)
I saw Jemaine (Jemaine Clement) walking down the Bowery the other day and was tempted to jump out in front of him like Mel (Kristen Schaall) does on the show and tell him that I was his number one fan and that he shouldn’t trust any of his other fans and that he doesn’t look anything like a large water-dwelling-mammal and invite him and his bandmate Bret (Bret McKenzie) over for scrambled eggs. Instead, I just looked the other way and sort of grunted. But, in some strange way for that brief moment I felt like I was part of the duo from New Zealand’s sublimely awkward and deadpan universe. JOSHUA NEUMAN
The Best of the Rest:
2. The Sopranos (HBO)
3. Curb Your Enthusiasm (HBO)
4. The Sarah Silverman Program (Comedy Central)
5. Tim and Eric, Awesome Show, Great Job (Adult Swim)
6. South Park (Comedy Central)
7. Little Britain (BBC)
8. The Office (NBC)
9. Robot Chicken (Adult Swim)
10. The Mighty Boosh (BBC)
