Walla Walla, Washington’s Whitman Wonks Muse on Mixed Model Minority Marriages
It seems that Jewdar is not the only one who has spent time wondering what life is like at the home of Maury Povich and Connie Chung. Apparently Walla Walla’s Whitman College is conducting the world’s first ever study of Jewish/Asian intermarried couples. We are always fairly dubious about such things, but think some real good can come from this, as long as they ask the right questions. We offer the following suggestions:

When will people finally realize that jokes about Jews liking Chinese food haven’t been funny since 1963?
And perhaps we will finally have an answer to the ultimate question—we get why Jewish men like Asian women (especially the really stereotypical ones who talk like the hookers in Full Metal Jacket), but honestly, what can they possibly see in us?

Asian women are considered submissive by some Jewish men who don’t have the intelligence, strength, or guts to go head to head with a Jewish woman. About a generation ago, gentile women (aka shiksas) were considered submissive and deferential to men, totally different from their loud, proud, albeit neurotic (for good reason) mothers. But ever since women of Western European extraction came into their own, they lost their appeal. Asian women are smart and tough, and one day, too, they’ll wake up and smell the coffee. And these whiny men will have to find someone else to scrape and bow.
