Book trailers are, by nature, something of a tricky proposition – unlike movies previews, which can simply cut together a film’s most exciting scenes, a book trailer has the unenviable task of generating interest without any visual source material from which to draw. In other words – they’re pretty easy to fuck up. Not so with B.J. Novak, whose trailer for his upcoming “One More Thing: Stories and Other Stories” dropped today. The whole thing is light, breezy, and gives you a pretty good idea of what the book is all about, even if trailer co-star Mindy Kaling can’t quite keep it together for the entire shoot.

If mocking French pretension and offering sidelong callbacks to The Office wasn’t enough to get you onboard, keep in mind that Novak has writing in his blood: His father, William Novak, was the co-editor of The Big Book Of Jewish Humor which you probably saw on a shelf in your rabbi’s office as a twelve year old training for your Bar Mitzvah while desperately wishing you could be somewhere – anywhere – else.
